Nadia Elena Comaneci
The 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the time when she broke the record by becoming the first person to achieve a perfect 10, in asymmetric bars. In the following years, she was able to score six other perfect 10 and became the youngest Olympic all-around gold medalist, at only 14. Nadia Comaneci managed to attract international attention and aid in helping Romania establish itself in the global spotlight. In achieving an unachievable result her sporting legend became a legendary figure and promoted gymnastics throughout the world. Women's perception of gymnasts was changed by her performances. Her impact on the Olympics was so powerful that two of her routines including the toe-on and the release movement were named after her. Both of them have been classified as difficult to the highest level. Also, she performed very well in World Championships, European Championships and the Olympics. This has made her famous, and she is one of the most famous gymnasts in the world. While in the US she was able to advertise the sport and fashion industry after leaving her native country.
